Welcome to Cherry Crescent Pre-School
Cherry Crescent Pre-School acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of whose land we build our community today. We recognise the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures and to elders both past and present.
We would love to welcome you and your child to Cherry Crescent Pre-school. Cherry Crescent Pre-School is a happy and caring place. All this information has been designed to help families become familiar with the operations of the Kindergarten so that we may all work towards the common goals of maintaining the Kindergarten as an attractive and efficient learning environment and contributing in a constructive way to each child’s development.
Cherry Crescent Pre-school is supported by the Victorian Government. We are licensed under the Education and Care Act 2010 and operates according to the regulations set down by this Department which are common to all Kindergartens. Programming is available to parents at all times and is always flexible enough to cater for the individual needs of children. The children are encouraged to make progress in areas such as science and technology, literacy and numeracy, creativity, sensory play, imaginary play, musical development, active play, hand skills and environmental care. Another important aim is to help children build awareness and curiosity about the world around them. All the Educator's at Cherry Crescent Pre-Schoool ensures that a caring, stable and positive environment is created for the children, and parent involvement is both welcomed and encouraged at any time.
Cherry Crescent Pre-School does everything it can to help make children safe and we have a zero tolerance for child abuse.

IMMUNISATION ENROLMENT REQUIREMENTS IN VICTORIA
By law (in effect from 1 January 2016), to finalise enrolment for your child, you must provide our Kindergarten with an immunisation status certificate that shows your child is:
• up to date with vaccinations for their age OR
• on a vaccine catch-up schedule OR
• has a medical condition preventing them from being fully vaccinated. What is an immunisation status certificate?
It is a statement showing the vaccines your child has received. The most common type of immunisation status certificate is an Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register.
'Homeopathic immunisation' is not a recognised form of immunisation.
What is this document used for?
To finialise enrollment. To accept an offered place at our Kindergarten, you must provide us with an Immunisation Status Certificate. This is done during our Orientation Day which occurs in November, the year before your child is due to start.
To keep children safe. If there is a disease outbreak at our Kindergarten, the document is used to identify children at risk( for example, children too young to be fully immunised against a disease) who may need to stay away from the Kindergarten until it is safe for them to return.
What if l cannot get this document?
In some circumstances a 16 week 'grace period' can be applied, so your child can start while you organise the document. Please see an Educator if this applies to you.
HOW DO I GET AN IMMUNISATION STATUS CERTIFICATE?
Request an Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR)
• phone 1800 653 809
• email [email protected]
• visit www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/online
• visit a Medicare Service Centre.
See your doctor or local council
A doctor or local council immunisation service can also provide an immunisation status certificate. To be used for enrollment, the document/s need to contain the same details as an ACIR Immunisation History Statement and be signed by the immunisation provider.
How do l tell if my child is 'up to date'?
Review your child's most recent ACIR Immunisation History Statement. At the bottom of the statement there is a section titled 'Next due immunisation(s)'. If the date of the next due vaccination is in the future, then your child's immunisation are up to date for their age.
If your child has completed all their childhood vaccinations there will be no vaccines listed under the 'Next due immunisation(s)' heading.
What do l do when my child has vaccinations AFTER enrolling?
After each vaccination, you need to provide an Educator with an updated immunisation status certificate to then be included into your child's records.
